Zoo Day and Funny Rib Pics

On the hottest, most humid day of the week we decided to go to the zoo. Bad idea. But luckily, this zoo is so small that it takes about 1.5 hours for the whole adventure and that includes a train ride and some time at the park. Of course, today the boys were so hot at the park that they just sat in the huge spider web the whole time. We had fun but I think we will not be doing this while it is so hot.

While in Texas with my parents, Jonathan decided he loved ribs. Of course, my dad lost his whole meal when they learned this. I made ribs for dinner and both boys dug in with fervor.

Jonathan polished the ribs completely clean. It was really unbelievable. At least now I know one thing to bring to a bbq for the boys.

Happy Birthday Jonathan!

Today we celebrated Jonathan's 3rd birthday. It is really hard to believe that my baby is already 3. I decided that I couldn't stand the heat anymore and we headed to one of our favorite indoor playgrounds, Kids Klubhouse. I ended up getting a membership for the next 3 months because I know that it will be too hot for me in July and in August it will be too hot for the baby.

After a lot of excitement at the Klubhouse my mom and I took the boys out to Chili's. It happens to be one of my favorite places and not one of Adam's so I figured I would go while he was away and couldn't tell me, "no, lets go to sushi".

The boys weren't great at dinner but I think that was due to being over tired and over hungry.
When we got home we opened a few presents.

I made Jonathan rice krispies with chocolate at his request.

We are going to be doing a big party for both boys on July 10th with all of their friends. We were sad that Adam couldn't celebrate with us but we enjoyed the day anyway.

Beach Day #2

Although technically only a lake we headed out to the beach today. This worked really well for my enlarged state. The car was about 100 yards away, 50% of which was concrete. And there was a bathroom right there too. The boys had a blast and we plan on going again with our nets to try and catch the tiny fish. We spent about 2 hours there and really that was plenty considering it was 90 degrees and very humid.

Alex's Graduation

Alex finished up Montessori Preschool today. I had one of those crazy days where I was constantly moving, packing, shopping, cooking and cleaning. But my favorite moment was when I could take a break and watch Alex's graduation. The school had it outside in their park area. It was a perfect day, with a nice cloud cover so there was no sun beating down on us.
Alex going up to get his certificate.

Here it is. Yay!
Alex wanted to get a picture on the playground. He says it is his favorite and that he is sad he will never play on it again.
Here are a couple of movies of the songs the class sang. You can barely hear it, but they sure are cute.

Later, my parents arrived and so did Uncle Don. The boys are heading off to Texas very early in the morning. They will be flying with my parents and I will be home alone for 3 days. I am psyched and nervous at the same time.

Strawberry Picking

Today starts the annual blog fest, where I post nearly everyday to keep Adam up to date on the boys comings and goings since he is stuck in Europe having a miserable time traveling.

We began today very busy. Alex had school, and Jonathan had a playdate. With errands mixed in. We made it to Parlee Farms up near New Hampshire for a picnic at about 1pm. The boys were so excited to play and see the animals that they barely ate anything. Luckily, we were with friends which gave me an excuse to sit and relax with my lunch rather then eat it in the field. The boys started out by feeding the goats. I really think this was Jonathan's favorite part.

We all headed out to the fields. We got to go through the raspberry fields which got me excited to go back in July when they will be ready.

Jonathan and Alex were very good at picking great strawberries. Jonathan ate just about every one that he found though. He had a bit of a tummy ache as we were leaving but was better by the time we made it home.
Here is Alex with his good buddy Zach.
Success! I guess I will be making a strawberry cobbler for my parents when they visit on Thursday.
Here is the whole gang. Such a great group. These kids are all from our complex and we meet them out at the park nearly everyday. It really has been great.

The boys already miss Adam a lot, but have been very well behaved for me. Day one is down, now lets see how 2-17 will be.

2 months and counting

Rather surprisingly, we have only 2 more months until our new little boy is welcomed home. We are basically all set. I do still have to paint the hand me down crib we got and make the bedding. But I am not worried about that considering the baby won't be sleeping in the crib the first little while anyway. The boys are so excited about having a baby brother. Every time they see my belly they have to reach out and give it a rub. Always telling me just how big it is getting. The one time Alex said my butt was getting bigger I quickly set him straight on just what he could say was getting bigger. We still have not picked a name. We have several on a list and at some point Adam and I will just have to decide which makes us the most happy. Hopefully, this happens before we leave the hospital. Alex got to take a sibling class last weekend. He learned how to change a diaper and then came home and taught Jonathan. It is very cute. Hopefully, they are so helpful when the new one comes. At my 30 week appointment I measured perfectly average as I have for the other boys. Hopefully, this means I won't have a enormous baby like my sister did. And I hope it means he will be one day late just like the others. If he comes 2 days early I will not be happy as I don't want Alex to have to share his birthday. I will try to keep the updates coming. As you can see from my posts we have kept very busy. I love this time of year and want to enjoy every minute of it with my boys.

Beach Day #1

MA has hit some all time highs this month in temperatures. So we took advantage and went to the beach. We met our friends Dylan and Brenden there. The boys were in ecstasy. This day probably held some of my favorite moments in life. The boys just ran free, screaming and laughing. Telling me how much fun they were having when they stopped to show me seashells they found. Even with a ton of sunscreen they ended up a little burnt so I have since gotten swim shirts to protect them.
Alex tried to dig to the magma but it didn't take long for him to become distracted and move onto another game.

The mom of our friends, Kerri, had to leave at 1pm and so I volunteered just to take all the boys. Now that we have our new van this was very easy. We played for another couple of hours and headed off to meet Kerri at an ice cream parlor near her home.

Jonathan did take a 30 minute nap on the way to the beach but that was it. I was worried about how he would do that night since he is rather finicky. He slept for 11 hours straight; no sounds from him the whole night. This is probably the best he has ever done in his whole life. I think that we will be going to the beach a lot this year in hopes to duplicate this sleep pattern.
