Thanksgiving visit with Kevin and Kayla

Our great friends Kevin and Kayla Simon came to our house for Thanksgiving. It was the first time we ever had guests for the big day and it was a blast. Unfortunately, the visit turned blah when I got the first dose of "morning" sickness and spent 2 days in the bathroom. By Monday my doc had given me some lovely medicine and I have been able to function most days since.

Fun In November

Here the boys are at the Discovery Museum. We spent over 30 minutes making huge bubbles. It was a blast.

Cute pic with Daddy before the boys went to work with him the day before Thanksgiving.
We were bored one day and got our tent out. We didn't realize that it would take up the whole room. But the boys slept in it for two nights and just loved it.

Thats right...it freaked us out so much we took two tests.

Another cute one of Alex.

Visit to Buffalo and Niagara Falls

This last weekend we took a long drive over to Buffalo, New York. Adam had a talk to give on Monday so we took the opportunity to make a visit to Niagara. We stayed with some great people. The Hemmer's have 2 kids, Meghan (4), and Ben (1). They were instantly welcoming and of course, our boys loved the kids in minutes. We left on Friday night, drove 4 hours and stayed overnight in a surprisingly nice motel just off the turnpike. On Saturday, after making an 40 mile trip back home, we realized that we had gone the wrong way on the turnpike. Of course, when you have to be in the car an extra 1.5 hours with 2 kids this just made our day. We made it to Buffalo at 3pm and spent the rest of the day just relaxing. On Sunday we left early to visit Niagara Falls. Here are some of the pics:

This was the first pic of the day, which is always a "this is what my child looks like officer" pic. They sure made it easy to get a good view of their natural faces.

The only family photo we could get and the boys were too shy of the strangers taking it.

We got pretty close to the rapids and Jonathan loved to look but the sound was a bit much.

After seeing the American side of the Falls we headed over to the aquarium. We made it just in time for the sea lion show. Jonathan just loved this trip. He wanted to see everything twice and sat so still for the show. It was amazing to see.

After the aquarium we needed some outdoor running around time. Well, Adam and I walked about 8 miles that day, so the boys needed the running time.

More pics of the American side of the falls.

We walked over to the Canadian side. This totally freaked Alex out. He did not want to leave the US. It totally scared him. Luckily, both boys decided to take a nap so Adam and I had a little bit of time to walk around and enjoy the show.

On Monday while Adam was at the university, Jen Hemmer and I took the kiddos to the Buffalo zoo. The day was perfect, although a little windy.

No trip to the zoo is finished without some time at the park.

Juice box break.
This tree was the best to climb for their age.

We had a wonderful time. The weekend was topped off with some spectacular negotiating skills with the rental car company which gave us 50% for the weekend and another weekend free since the car they gave us was a beater.

Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone!

The boys had another fun filled, not to mention party filled, Halloween.

Jonathan was Curios George this year. Originally we wanted to me a monster ghost. However, once I finished making the ghost costume he changed his mind. I thought he was pretty cute as the monkey.
Alex was a ghost. This is the closest I got to a smile from him. He was very shy about people looking at him. Although, by the time we got to trick or treating he was running around saying boo to everyone much easier.

Last week, we did the "Horribles Parade". It is basically a 1/4 mile walk from a park to the high school. We follow a fire truck and police car. At the high school local business' hand out candy. Which means the boys have candy a week early, which means they loved it.
We carved two pumpkins this year. That way both boys could pick a face to go on them. I haven't gotten a picture of Jonathan's yet but I will get on that soon.

Finished!
Here they are heading out for there first trick or treating on Friday night. It was actually trunk or treating at our complex. Everyone parked their cars outside the clubhouse, decorated their trunks and handed out candy. It was great fun. The party in the clubhouse was also a hit. Well, except that there was some sort of smell that Alex couldn't handle so we left right after we snagged a hot dog. Of course, he wouldn't eat it since it also smelled.
And the big prize.
We might be hiding some of this.

The boys had lot of fun this year. I am already excited to see what they will be next year.

Jonathan's First Hair Cut

Even though Jonathan is younger then Alex at his first real haircut we decided, or rather I decided, it was time to give it a go. Jonathan's just never got that thick curly look like Alex did. He has only had hair for about 9 months and it just looks really ratty. So here is our gorgeous boy before the haircut.

He is happy now.
Look Ma, a mohawk!
And the after pics...

Simply gorgeous. He did get a little squirmy which is why it is a little crooked. But he looks like a little boy now and I am very happy we did it.
